For a long time during my adventure with PHP I was a follower of Open Source for all solutions .... which means that my choice for the IDE was NetBeans. It has code completion, hints, syntax highlighting, projects, frameworks support ... who needs more? And it's free!
Then, a few months ago, a friend of mine convinced me to try PhpStorm. It's not free anymore ... but I thought I'd give it a try ... and it was worth it! Not only it's faster and less prone to crashes but most of all - it has Magi ...

At LogicSpot, we're very proud users of many of Atlassian's tools - JIRA, Confluence, Issue Collector, Crucible and FishEye. They work superbly for us and we've written in previous blog posts how happy we are to extol their virtues.
Atlassian released SourceTree for Mac in October 2010. After a short period of "Please release for Windows" requests on their feedback sites, with quite a lot of "+1s" they've released SourceTree for Windows, and it's brilliant.

Often when you use a filled map in Tableau and colour it using a particular measure the map looks rather bland. This is caused by a couple of countries having particularly high or low values and therefore skewing the colours. If the high/low values are for small island countries then they will be practically invisible and the whole map will have pretty much the same colour.
Here is an example of a filled map coloured by a measure 'Merchandise trade as a percentage of GDP'. It looks very bland ...

Very simple blog post - I want to recommend a really simple piece of software that most people don't know about but is SO SIMPLE and so brilliant. I'm really surprised there's no image resizing built into the Windows operating system.
