Their needs

Errant Surf approached us with a simple demand – drive up visitors and turnover but reduce costs and effort to manage the customer base, while still providing the same, or better, customer service. Not much then. We delivered. With extra chocolate sauce.

New branding

Now, Errant Surf is a cool brand – I mean, surfing’s cool, right? So we had to create a web presence that appealed to the existing surfers, and surfers-to-be to hit at least a couple of the client demands. So that’s where we turned into talent scout and hired in Sam Gilbey – one of the leading graphic artists/designers in the UK, with a portfolio that covers MTV and Playstation Europe as well as regularly producing work for the magazines read by the graphics pros. So LogicSpot recommended to Errant Surf that they came up with a fresh brand – we delivered. Around the brand, the colour charts, the font usage and everything else you expect from a great design, we then applied it to a new website – written from ground up, to give optimal user journeys, simplified routes through the site, and short clicks to buy.

We then set about and hand-coded the XHTML, CSS and Javascript needed to make the site work.

Oh, and wrote a back-end database hosted by us on one of our servers in London. So the Errant Surf team can now use their own CMS to modify regions, wave charts, accommodation, holiday prices; They can sit and watch booking requests come in, people can pay online … suppliers are contacted automatically to check availability … it’s everything the system should be. Except with extra chocolate sauce.

We also took on social networking for Errant Surf – building out an integrated blog, twitter feed, Facebook page and then linking them all together.

Search engine optimisation

And while we were doing that, we were pumping up the search engine optimisation – monitoring keywords on a daily basis from our bespoke, automated systems in-house, tweaking pages as needed, cross-linking, you name it …. to achieve REALLY great Google Rankings across scores of phrases that matter to Errant Surf. Try searching in Google for surf holiday or surf travel and see where they come up.

Since instructing LogicSpot I’ve been fortunate to have worked closely with Mark and his team.
