What is my position in Google, Yahoo and Bing search engines? We’ve redesigned our tool for clients

We had a need for our clients, a really long time ago to be able to know what search engine position we had for a big range of keywords in Google.

So … being the software development people that we are … we set about and wrote our own tool that basically goes out every morning and harvests a lot of data from Google, for all our client’s websites and gets their current search engine position for each and every term they are interested in. Now they’re interested in search engine terms that currently work for them. And SEO keywords that they don’t currently concentrate on, but want to maybe start an SEO campaign. Oh, and they’re interested in the SEO terms of their competitors too! So that’s a lot of terms that need to be tracked. We do a lot of London website design and we want to help our customers get ahead of the competition.

So we wrote the tool about 4-5 years ago. That’s a lot of data about a lot of keywords in Google for a lot of client websites. We can see how website changes influenced keyword positions – we can do all sorts really.

Well, the reason for this post is to tell you that we’ve just extended the tool. Just as our search engine optimisation efforts focus equally now on efforts in Google, Yahoo and Bing (now that both Yahoo and Bing are gaining traction once again in the UK and starting to slowly claw back market share). We’ve added gathering of Bing results and Yahoo results on a daily basis now – so more juicy data to help our clients get way ahead of their competitors!

Just thought I’d send this as an update to all in case this could be useful to you.
