You own your content – why not let you manage it easily without additional cost?

You have a website, or intranet. It has grown organically over time, and while it is very useful, it is far from perfect. Much of the content is out-of-date or inaccurate, it’s hard to find things, updating the site is complex. Worse yet, you’ve lost track of all the pages on the site, and by having all the changes made by your skilled webmaster, the updates are piling up in their in-tray. If this sounds grim, you are not alone. In fact, it’s the natural by-product of maintaining a site using manual tools such as Dreamweaver or Frontpage or handing over the content editing to someone else Thankfully, these problems are what a content management system is specifically designed to solve. A content management system allows the business owners, PR personnel, marketing staff, whomever you wish, to EDIT and MAINTAIN content on your website in a safe and simple manner If your people can use Microsoft Word, they can use our content management systems. It’s really that simple

The right solution for the right job

At LogicSpot, we provide different CMS solutions – and use the appropriate one for your business:
  • We often kick-start projects with a simple WordPress website – allowing the content to grow organically and tangentially rather than being restricted by a linear Word environment. Many clients will stay in this environment, and the design will be built around the content step by step.
  • Sometimes we use WordPress as the CMS but we pull the content automagically out of the WordPress environment into other systems like Lotus Notes/Domino – this allows you to work quickly in WordPress from the project outset but for us to use the content in a powerful manner on the Domino system – if your solution needs it
  • A third option is to work solely in Domino – we’ve put together and honed our own CMS system over many years – and a CMS system in Domino can give benefits that are not available in WordPress – for instance, perhaps you need to display supplier details on your website to customers … some nice, clear descriptions and so on … but there might be a lot of other data you wish to keep about that supplier that’s for internal use, such as markup rates, personal contact details, etc – so we’ve now got part-CMS and part office application, seamlessly together in one place

Why WordPress?

We could’ve chosen WordPress, Drupal, PHPNuke, DotNetNuke … plenty of other CMS systems that are all great. So why did LogicSpot choose WordPress? Here’s a couple of quotes to help us answer the question:
The reason I continue to use WordPress today is because of its vast extensibility, extreme flexibility, and widespread support throughout the open-source community. Bottom line: there is no reason to use anything else because WordPress can pretty much do it all.
I’ve tried a few CMS packages back in the day, including Mambo/Joomla, Drupal, PHP-Nuke, Post-Nuke, and countless others. None really stood out to me like WordPress. To put it simply, it just did what I expected. I chose WordPress in the first place because I couldn’t find any better option. Later on I discovered the vibrant community surrounding WordPress including the great selection of themes and plugins. With a simple Google search I could find a tutorial for pretty much anything I wanted to do, through code hacks and whatnot. I was hooked after that.
The criteria for us choosing WordPress started very small but grew as we researched and tried each CMS platform:
  • Ease of use for our clients – up and running in MINUTES – editing webpages, uploading images, etc
  • Supportable by the LogicSpot team – both the websites, the technical architecture, databases, all that keeps it working!
  • Extensive community of experts to provide support to solve anything
  • The biggest plugin choice (you want a dropdown calendar, you got it … or a featured Youtube video, no problem) of any CMS architecture
  • The biggest theme choice of any CMS architecture
  • Large community of designers producing themes/designs for WordPress
