Alternergy are a Solar PV distributor based in London, providing everything required for a solar system from small domestic rooftops to large commercial systems.

In 2012 they were named the UK’s FASTEST GROWING BUSINESS in the Investec Hot 100. In 2013, they were named the SECOND fastest and also named in LSEG’s 1,000 companies to inspire Britain.

Alternergy needed both ecommerce design and Magento development. They did not have an online shop when we met them, and they wanted an ecommerce solution that was tightly integrated with their existing processes, logistics systems and Sage 200.

We worked closely with Alternergy to scope and develop the project, delivering to tight deadlines and working within their budget requirements.

User focus for Alternergy

Magento development

We designed and built Alternergy’s ecommerce site from the ground up, creating a user experience that is highly tailored to their products and the way their clients shop with them. We incorporated a range of unique features that help deliver their proposition to their client base, including:

  • Complex shipping rules, where people can buy and ship anything worldwide – from a bag of bolts, to large solar panels.
  • A ‘Kit Configurator’, where customers can design and scope their solar panel ‘kit’, and add it directly to the shopping basket.
  • B2B client delivery – including bespoke credit limits, pay on account and rules
    MailChimp integration with customer segmentation.

Magento & WordPress Optimisation

Alternergy’s site needed to work alongside and complement their existing business. Along with many unique features that supplement their Customer Service proposition and their clients’ needs, the website works with their work processes and internal functions.

We delivered a bi-directional Sage 200 integration, and the Magento site is fully integrated with WordPress. We wrote some bespoke code for this integration to ensure as-fast-as-possible loading times, which has now been returned to the Open Source community for others to use!
