Social Enterprise, Unforgettable, is dedicated to supporting the families and carers of the 850,000 people in the UK who have dementia. Founded in 2014 by James Ashwell, after five years caring for his late mum, James is passionate about creating a community where those impacted have access to resources, services and products that can help.
Unforgettable approached LogicSpot in September 2016 when their incumbent supplier was closing its doors – they were looking for an agency who could not only take stock and tidy up what was already in place, but also support them 24×7 and drive their website forward at a pace.

When we first took on Unforgettable, we inherited a site from a small Magento agency. As is often the case, the site was OK, but there was plenty of scope for improvement with the Magento back-end code, UX and performance.
Whenever we first start with any new client who already has a Magento website, we carry out our Magento site audit, covering front-end speed and development, the Magento codebase and lots of other components that make up the site. We put together a prioritised list of work that would be delivered over the coming weeks and months for Unforgettable. The audit also allows us to understand how the site has been built and for us to then provide support and continuous development from day one.
Fast delivery of new branding and homepage “refresh”
Unforgettable were keen to modernise their home page to better communicate the various aspects of their social business, which included sales of dementia-related products and services, as well as access to useful information and community support for those caring for people with memory loss.
This required branding, typefaces and colours throughout, new navigation structure, and a totally new, CMS-editable homepage.
The timing of this was paramount – it needed to coincide with press activity and print material so we put a team of developers on it to turn around the project in a number of days.
A large number of items sold by Unforgettable are VAT-exempt and as such, the out-of-the-box Magento checkout didn’t provide everything required. The checkout process, layout needs and checkout drop-off all pointed us to redesign and rebuild the checkout from scratch. We used, as often is the case, OneStepCheckout with a custom VAT exemption section where a customer validates their eligibility for exemption before purchasing.
